The undergraduate research program in Chemistry at Western is among the most active in the country, with dozens of students in full-time paid research positions each summer and about $1 million annually in external research support, so there are plenty of opportunities. However, openings in research groups are not often advertised, so it's up to you to be proactive. Have a look at research group web pages (like this one), read recent publications from groups you're interested in, and talk to students already involved. Then schedule a time to meet with professors leading programs of interest to you. With persistence you will find an opening.
